1. Deutsch lernen und Deutsch sprechen Deutsch sprechen, schreiben und lesen zu können, ist die Grundlage für den Einstieg in die österreichische Gesellschaft. So können Sie verstehen, was in Ihrer Umwelt passiert, und einen Beruf finden. Vor allem Schreiben und Lesen haben dafür eine große Bedeutung. Wenn Sie uns auf Deutsch ansprechen, sehen wir das als Zeichen der Wertschätzung und freuen uns über das entgegengebrachte Vertrauen. Wir wollen einander besser kennenlernen. Zeigen Sie sich offen und interessiert! Beide Seiten können davon profitieren. So gibt es weniger Vorurteile und weniger Missverständnisse.	1. Learning German and speaking German The ability to speak, write and read in German is necessary to become a member of Austrian society. German language skills will enable you to understand what is going on in your immediate environment and to find a job.   Writing and reading skills play a particularly important role in this context. When you speak to us in German we are pleased and consider this a sign of appreciation and trust placed in us. It is important that we get to know each other better. Be open and show your interest. This is of mutual benefit. And it will help reduce prejudice and avoid misunderstanding.
2. Berufliche Qualifikationen erwerben und einsetzen In Österreich erwarten wir, dass man Qualifikationen für den Beruf erwirbt und später mit einer Arbeit das eigene Leben finanziert. Sie brauchen also gute Qualifikationen für den Arbeitsmarkt. Diese bekommen Sie durch Bildung. Mit diesen Fähigkeiten können Sie sich und Ihrer Familie ein wirtschaftlich stabiles Leben schaffen. Manche Menschen können nicht (mehr) selbst für sich sorgen. Sie können Hilfe vom Staat bekommen, wenn sie diese brauchen. Diese Solidarität kann aber nur funktionieren, wenn arbeitsfähige Menschen in Österreich arbeiten und Steuern und Abgaben zahlen und so das System erhalten. Auch Sie sollen dazu Ihren Beitrag leisten, indem Sie möglichst bald einen Beruf ausüben.	2. Acquiring and using professional qualifications In Austria, we expect people to acquire professional qualifications and subsequently finance their lives through work. Therefore, in order to succeed in the labour market you require sound qualifications, which you acquire through education and training. Using the skills and qualifications acquired will enable you to build a financially stable life for yourself and your family. Some people may not (or no longer) be able to provide for themselves. If they need help, they can turn to the state for support. This solidarity can, however, only function in Austria when people who are fit for employment do in fact work and pay taxes, duties and social security contributions, thus ensuring that the system continues to function. Therefore, you must also contribute towards this system by finding employment as quickly as possible.
