Aufgrund dieser schrecklichen Ereignisse [zwischen 1938 und 1945] gilt in Österreich heute das sogenannte Verbotsgesetz. Das Gesetz verbietet den Versuch, eine der nationalsozialistischen Organisationen (NSDAP, SS, SA etc.) wieder aufzubauen oder sich irgendwie für ihre Ziele zu betätigen. Auch Organisationen, die diesen Aufbau zum Ziel haben, sind verboten. Außerdem ist es (vor allem in Presse und Rundfunk) verboten, dass man zu den Zielen solcher Organisationen aufruft. Auch nationalsozialistische Verbrechen zu verharmlosen oder zu leugnen, ist verboten.	Against the background of these terrible events, Austria adopted and applies the National Socialism Prohibition Act. Whoever tries to re-establish any National Socialist organisations (NSDAP, SS, SA etc.) or to act in any form in support of such organisations or their objectives shall be punished with imprisonment. Likewise, organisations that pursue the goal of establishing such Nazi organisations are forbidden. It is, furthermore, forbidden to induce others (by issuing calls mainly in the press, broadcasting or other media) to pursue the objectives of such organisations. Likewise, it is forbidden to trivialise or deny the National Socialist crimes.
Das Verbotsgesetz soll eine Wiederholung der nationalsozialistischen Terrorherrschaft verhindern. Vor allem die Verharmlosung der Verbrechen unter Adolf Hitler sieht man als einen ersten Schritt zu ähnlichen oder schlimmeren Ereignissen, die man von Anfang an verhindern muss. Das Verbotsgesetz soll sicherstellen, dass sich diese menschenverachtende Ideologie nicht noch einmal verbreitet.	The National Socialism Prohibition Act was adopted to prevent any repetition of the Nazi terror regime. It is most of all the trivialisation, minimisation or denial of the crimes committed during Adolf Hitler’s regime that is considered the first step towards similar or even worse events that must be prevented from the outset. The National Socialism Prohibition Act thus seeks to ensure that there will never again be propagation of this ideology, which despises mankind.
